It is always about boundaries. The limit of the own ability to cope with pressure. The lines of the sense of responsibility and the rules. And then there are the really important boundaries: The line, that separate the game and the bitter seriousness.
It all comes down to the question: How far can you go?

»Are you going to make it?«
»There aren't many entrants in this class... and Pilot has an excellent galopp. He already showed his capabilities this morning.«
»But this is only his third competition, maybe you should give him more time? You haven't trained him in speed. Do you want to know what I think? The victory in Australia has made you overconfident! «
»Just let me try. He will show us, if he isn't ready - but he is. He is a true gambler.«

It's not good to forget what it's all about... To forget the basic idea of the olden days. We need a line between everything one is willing to give and everything one is able to give.
That line is called principles. Everyone has to choose his own principles and then the only thing left is to hope that you have made a good choice – and that you are never forced to cross this line.

Pilot was groomed and tacked – he wasn't happy to be prepared again, after he had done a good job in the L4 show jumping in the morning.
Tarek didn't want to ask too much of him and abandoned a long warm up, he only made few jumps. Pilot should give everything in this course once again and shouldn't waste his power too early. They were one of the last entrants of this class, what shouldn't mean too much with less than ten competitors.
Applause and music - obviously the rider in the arena had done an admirable job.
»Come on, it's time to show that you are a real jet pilot.«
Tarek lifted the hand as the other rider came out of the arena. Now it was up to him, who of them would be the better one.
They were coated with applause as they entered. He didn't see anything, until his eyes adjusted and the obstacles appeared out of the light. Tarek looked at them and imagined the course he had preconceived. It was risky, but doable. Tarek knew his horse and he knew what they could achieve, but he thought again about what his sister Ailyn said to him.

At some point, everyone has to make a decision. Boundaries guarantee not only fairness and equal opportunities, they limit the chance of something extraordinary. They limit the possibility to grow and develop. You are keeping yourself small, you are standing in your own way, you are the thing that makes yourself and the things you do ordinary.
Life is hard, that is how we're made.
Anyway, you can waste your life drawing lines... or you can live your life crossing them. You can win the earth, yet lose everything. It is always a step into the unknown, but who is always sure?

He greeted the judges with a quick raise of his hand and a nod of the head. Then he smiled. He loved this moments, the moments when the adrenaline rushed trough his veins. This were the moments he rode for, because he felt alive.
Time to say the words, the same like every time, but only Pilot could hear them.
    »Let's go Geronimo!«

There are Boundaries for certain reasons, and some of them are far too dangerous to cross.
But I realized one thing: No risk, no fun.
Here's what I know. If you're willing to throw caution to the wind and take a chance, the view from the other side is sensational.

He took one deep breath, but now he was sure - and he gave Pilot the sign to galopp.

I don't like it. I wanted to finish this already two days ago... but somehow I got bored with it. I hate the background, it's uncreative and sloppy. I hate Pilot's neck and his Mane (i'll sure try to fix this soon).
Anyway, I tried a new method of shading with 'fur effect'... I saw a picture by feverpaint and tried to create the same effect, unfortunately I was nearly done before she told me how to do it :giggle: I think I'll try on the next picture with her method soon. =)

Okay, Tarek and Pilot again. I love this guy and I love his horse. It's such a shame, that I'm never really liked how the pictures of them come out. Maybe I should review and edit all previous pictures including this one. But I'm so damn lazy .__.

First time I wrote a story. Sorry for all mistakes, but it took me about 2 hours to create and translate it =)

Pretty, moody illustration :) I like Pilots chestnut fur. Great story too, I enjoyed reading it.
